Summary:
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician.
Exer Core Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities
Ø Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.
Ø Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Ø Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
Ø Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
Ø Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
Ø Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
Ø Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
Ø Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
Ø Assist doctors with charting
Ø Chart auditing, CPT and ICD-9 review
Ø Venipunctures, EKG's, Vital Signs, Blood draws, and Injections
Ø Prep patients for examination and treatment, and assist during minor office procedures
Ø Prepare exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications
v Medical Assistant experience
v CPT I certification
v Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections.
v Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet
v Neat and professional appearance
v Effective written and verbal communication skills
v Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant
Working Conditions
Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
