Necsel IP, Inc (a division of Ushio America, Inc.) – at our ISO 13485 qualified Vermont location – is seeking a highly self-motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is interested in challenging work and wants to make a difference as a part of a fast-paced team. The successful candidate will be collaborating with electrical/electronic, optical and other mechanical engineers to develop cutting edge minimally-invasive electrooptical medical devices as well as LED and laser-based illumination products. In addition to design and development, the successful candidate will work with the team to improve existing products and production processes. The Mechanical Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Mechanical aspects of product design
  • System integration of mechanical designs with thermal, optical and electronic design disciplines
  • Creating specifications, product briefs, design documentation and plans
  • Designing mechanical parts and assemblies to meet product and regulatory requirements
  • Creating solid models using standard solid modeling software (Solidworks)
  • Reviewing drawings and documentation for completeness and correctness before submittal to Document Control
  • Maintaining the standard of documentation required for high reliability medical devices; ISO 13485
  • Planning, performing and documenting validation testing to demonstrate compliance to product and regulatory requirements
  • Working with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to capture work instructions and assembly details on new and existing products and assisting in the resolution of product faults and customer complaints
  • Generating and reviewing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as necessary and attending ECO meetings when requested
  • Interacting with customers to develop customer/product requirements, discuss project activities and address technical concerns
  • Providing input to generate proposals and customer quotations

The Candidate is expected to:

  • Complete all tasks with a high level of workmanship and quality
  • Perform all work activities in a manner that promotes integrity and trust
  • Contribute to and maintain a respectful and collaborative work environment
  • Communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with customers and suppliers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

5 years of experience in:

  • Interpreting and generating mechanical drawings and bills of material
  • Performing mechanical design validations, both analytical and empirical
  • Understanding materials, material compatibility, and manufacturing processes
  • Solid modeling and CAD tools (preferably Solidworks)
  • Hands on ability to assemble prototype systems

Preferred experience:

  • Working with medical devices and ISO 13485 qualification
  • Design of optomechanical components and systems
