Possible Coaching Positions: Varsity FootballPosition SummaryAssumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences in comprehensive health and physical education and supervision of students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the State Standards, using approved curricula, materials, and directives of the school. Achieving excellence requires that the Health and Physical Education Teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school staff and with parents.
Certificate/License Requirements, Qualifications, Education, And Work ExperienceValid Georgia certification in Health/Physical Education (P-12) or be eligible for certification.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesTeaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge’s, and strategies of formal sports, and fundamentals of body movement. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, to the extent feasible. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to insure the over-all safety of students. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Abides by all Code of Ethics for Educators and Board policies. Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Other duties may be assigned.
SALARY: TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Commensurate with education/experience. 10 Months
