The Nurse Instructor has the responsibility for the assessment, development, implementation and instruction of the New Employee Orientation Program, as well as various in-service training programs offered to all STAR employees. Emphasis for direct care professionals (DSP) shall take priority. The Nurse Instuctor has the responsibility for developing, reviewing, revising and delivering curriculum for nursing classes,competency training, home studies and continuing education classes for all DSPs, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Psychiatric Technicians (PTs), and Psychiatric Technician Assistants (PTAs). The Nurse Instructor will assure that curriculum is developed in such a way that the goals of building capabilities and independence as well as providing a normalized living environment. Each instructor may provide training for community-based facilities/organizations as a consultant from STAR, depending on time available. Other duties include: Continuing education unit curriculum training designed for PTAs, providing abuse prevention training, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Ukeru and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) re-certification training.
