This position supports our Vacaville Operations large-scale mammalian cell culture production facility designed around the monoclonal antibody (MAb) platform. This position is part of our Engineering, Sciences, and Technology (ES&T) team and plays a crucial role in providing technical leadership on major projects, technologies, and systems to support the make, asses, and release of products. The Opportunity: As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross functional stakeholders in Manufacturing Operations, Quality, and ES&T. Together, we aim to accelerate the speed of tech transfers, introduce cutting-edge technologies, and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our Distributed and Manufacturing Control System (DCS - Siemens / MCS Honeywell). Key accountabilities include: Leading the development and review of automation-related policies, procedures, and SOPs Coordinating the resolution of automation system issues including cause analysis, issue resolution, unplanned event assessments, CAPAs, and investigations Working with Manufacturing, Quality, and Technology departments to lead technical transfers, corrective actions, continuous improvement changes, and support capital projects, ensuring alignment and compliance with company policies, procedures, and directives Acting as an SME and mentor to others regarding configuration standards and business processes of all applicable DCS/MCS platforms Participating in the on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support Who You Are: You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field AND have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the design, implementation and/or support of Instrumentation and control systems You possess experience working in a GMP regulated environment with distributed control systems, software development methodologies, and automated system life cycle support in a regulated industry You have experience with: GMP, S88, S95, and GAMP, particularly as they relate to the operation, validation, and maintenance of controlled systems You have a comprehensive understanding and application of engineering techniques and principles Preferred: Advanced degree Experience in Biotech or Pharmaceutical, food or other batch processing industries Special Notes: On occasion, you must be able to work flexible hours to participate in virtual meetings outside of normal business hours and to respond to escalations in the event of major incidents The Roche site at Vacaville is in an agreement to divest. This position could be transferred to the acquiring company. Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. This is an onsite position. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Vacaville, CA is $105,600 - $196,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
