Infrastructure Engineer Cisco

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the holistic engineering deliverables across different stages of the product lifecycle, focusing on Cisco voice and video hardware. They actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues within their day-to-day role to management. A key part of this role now includes the decommissioning of existing Cisco hardware as part of the preparation for the enterprise's migration to Microsoft Teams.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Achieves product commitments and influences others to do the same by using informal leadership, highly developed communication skills, and contributes to or leads technology communities. (20%)
  • Utilizes automation, system tools, open source solutions, observability, and 'security first' principles in daily work, with a particular focus on Cisco voice and video hardware integrations. (20%)
  • Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms, with an emphasis on Cisco collaboration tools. (10%)
  • Initiates high-level solution design approaches and guides the team to achieve desired key software delivery capabilities using automated, coded enterprise, and observability, specifically for Cisco voice and video services. (10%)
  • Participates in internal speaking and advocacy events, often demonstrating the capabilities of Cisco voice and video hardware. (10%)
  • Supports research activities to adopt new technology solutions in ways of developing new capabilities, especially in the realm of Cisco voice and video. (10%)
  • Continues professional education and creates opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices, including those related to Cisco voice and video hardware. (10%)
  • Coaches immediate chapter and actively fosters the adoption of new technologies, with a focus on Cisco voice and video hardware enhancements. (10%)
  • Leads the decommissioning of Cisco voice and video hardware systems in preparation for the migration to Microsoft Teams, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to business operations. (10%)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, or Information Technology. (Minimum required)
  • Proficiency in Cisco voice and video hardware solutions, including experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Virtualization Experience Client (VXC) devices.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) for voice and video integration.
  • Experience in managing the decommissioning of hardware systems, preferably Cisco voice and video hardware, in preparation for platform migration.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Cisco's enterprise voice and meeting architecture, including migration strategies from other platforms to Cisco solutions.
  • Understanding of Cisco's data center business advantage, including enterprise-grade voice and video capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Graph PowerShell is a plus, as it will be beneficial in managing and automating tasks in the Microsoft Teams environment post-migration.
