EdPlus at ASU is a dynamic unit of Arizona State University focused on the design and scalable delivery of digital teaching and learning models to increase student success and reduce barriers to achievement in higher education. Dreamscape Learn (DSL) is a collaborative venture between Dreamscape Immersive and Arizona State University, merging the most advanced experiential pedagogy with the entertainment industry’s best cinematic storytelling to deliver unique virtual reality (VR) and 2D labs and full course experiences which are demonstrably efficacious, readily scalable and emotionally engaging. These VR labs combine the emotional power of Hollywood storytelling, the visceral excitement of theme park rides, and an extraordinary mix of full body tracking and interactivity to create stories and worlds that push the limits of what is possible in virtual reality.
We’re seeking a creative, self-motivated, and collaborative Lead 3D Animator. This opportunity could be an ideal fit if you possess a strong passion for creating and delivering cutting-edge educational products and solutions, encompassing virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. Under general direction, the Lead 3D Animator will take on a variety of tasks, both independently and in collaboration with other artists, game developers, project leads, and other stakeholders, using emerging technology tools and artificial intelligence to create new story-driven experiences. This individual will work on a team to create high quality key-frame animations.
For the first three months, this position will be required to travel to Los Angeles up to 5 days per week for comprehensive training facilitated by the expert LA Dreamscape Learn team. These business trips will be at ASU's expense subject to travel policies and procedures found here.
Essential Duties:
Create high quality key-frame animations using Maya.
Work closely with Production Lead and the animation team to support animation needs.
Discuss and address notes given by project leadership and stakeholders.
Collaborate with others to come up with creative solutions, identify constraints, and to provide feasibility recommendations.
Work in a fast and iterative manner on animation concepts.
Direct the work of others to produce single coordinated projects.
Delegate tasks and provide specific direction to coordinate the work of a team.
Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Digital Art, Multimedia, Game Art & Design, Animation, or a related commercial arts field and six (6) years of related professional experience, Or, any equivalent combination of experience or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
Experience in professional 3D Animation in Film, Feature or series animation production.
Experience in professional VR development.
Experience with Dreamscape Learn’s SDK platform.
Experience applying motion capture to enhance performances.
Experience working with and bringing life to 3D models and rigs.
Experience with Motionbuilder.
Evidence of proficiency in Maya and/or Unity
Experience with Timeline animation in Unity.
Experience in Previs, Layout, Camera, and Cinematography.
Demonstrated working knowledge in Python, MEL, and animation pipeline.
Experience with Shotgrid, JIRA, Confluence.
Experience with Motion Graphic and/or FX animation.
Strong acting skills.
Experience with version control software such as Perforce, Plastic, SVN, Git, Bit Bucket.
Experience with Project Management Tools such as Jira, Shotgun, Trello, etc.
Evidence of basic scripting skills (e.g. C#, Python, MELscript etc).
Experience coding or integrating software in game engines, with visual scripting tools, or web development with HTML, CSS, C#.
Experience leading a team.
Evidence of ability to prioritize and manage multiple milestones and projects efficiently.
Evidence of ability to work independently, and in a team environment.
Evidence of ability to adapt to changing creative direction.

Working Environment
This position work location is Tempe Campus.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
