Our Fargo small animal practice is seeking a part-time veterinary assistant to work weekends (Fridays and Saturdays).

• High school diploma or GED Equivalent
• A team-based attitude with willingness to learn and understand basic veterinary procedures and medical terminology
• Excellent communication, organizational and technical skills.
• Manages time and task appropriately
• Ability to work under pressure and stays calm in a high volume and potentially stressful environment
• Ability to recognize certain behaviors in animals
• Experience working with and the ability to handle or restrain a variety of animal, including those hard to control
• Demonstrates professionalism and good judgment.
• Regular and timely attendance is required.

Preference given to any recent experience in a veterinary facility or animal related business with prior knowledge of veterinary medical terminology or procedures.

EXPECTATIONS

Part-Time CVS Veterinary Assistants are expected to work 10-20 hours per week with evening and Saturday availability required. Veterinary Assistants duties include but are not limited to animal restraint and handling of a variety of appointments, sterilization of medical instruments used throughout the clinic, cleaning and disinfecting ward and treatment areas of the clinic, admission and discharge of patients, ability to properly answer and direct client calls on a multi-line phone system, assisting with nail trimming, ear cleaning, vaccine preparation, medication filling, and assisting our doctors and technicians in any way asked to do so.
