Directs production activities for Prep, Filling and Packing lines to ensure daily schedule adherence, KPIs are achieved or exceeded and that the team is in full compliance with employee safety and

Food Safety /Quality standards. 

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

Assures that products meet or exceed Food Safety and Quality specifications at every Departmental process step 

  • Monitors prep room, Fill and Packaging processes to assure compliance with all standards and specifications
  • Promotes good quality practices, aligns to and facilitates training on all quality-related SOPs and GMPs and HACCP

Promotes a safety work culture by reinforcing all safety policies and practices

  • Assures LTF safety program guidelines are met or exceeded 
  • Facilitates and executes Safety trainings and partnering with HR Representative in the utilization of Alchemy training tools.
  • Actively participates in the Plant Safety program audits, inspections and JSA’s

Communicates as appropriate to assure Operational Effectiveness

  • Reviews schedule to coordinate staffing, equipment readiness, materials and timing to assure schedule is executed to meet customer demand.
  • Responsible for proper staffing levels and crew management to assure standards are achieved or exceeded.
  • Leverages Redzone to assure OEE standards are met or exceeded and facilitates investigation of root causes in order to recommend solutions for problems in the Continuous Improvement process.
  • Expertise in Redzone whereby knowledge is used to assure all Leads and Operators are trained to utilize Redzone to its fullest capabilities. Executes daily huddles
  • Assures that finished goods, raw/packing material, WIP are properly handled and labeled. 
  • Assures the Inventory control processes are followed and information accurate.
  • Ensures relevant communication occurs between shifts, operational teams and cross-functional teams 

Assures incoming team members are trained in techniques, processes, policies, etc. 

  • Engages in all relevant training, understand that the Lead acts as a key provider of insight and knowledge regarding operational knowledge, Safety and Food Safety knowledge, GMPs, and Quality standards
  • Encourages development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to optimize efficiency

Maintains work areas aligned with lean (5-S) principles

  • Embraces lean principles and training and applies these principles to work environment and team management
  • Participates in all 5-S events to communicate cultural alignment from top-down to 5-S and lean activities

Performs other duties as assigned

Background Requirements
High school or GED is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a food production facility is required. Previous lead or supervisory experience is required. A commensurate amount of education and experience may substitute. Must be able to work independently while applying safety, GMP and quality principles. Must understand HR policies and procedures and ensure the team act in adherence to these. Must have the ability to develop in-depth technical and mechanical knowledge of machinery, equipment and line operations. Critical thinking skills are required, as daily challenges in operational efficiency and production scheduling occur – must have strong problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and make adjustments that drive efficiency. Must be comfortable with computers to effectively capture relevant data, critical operational notes, etc. in systems. Must be able to communicate effectively to provide instruction and direction, to explain how things work, the importance of procedures and to create cultural alignment. Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is required. Must have great attention to detail, be reliable and proactive. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
  • Work conditions vary, working time will vary based upon work / project needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 5 to 90 F degrees in processing departments.
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 35lbs. to stand for long periods of time
  • Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal, analyze reports, manage data and detail
