Make a difference every day as a: MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTDescription:The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, balancing new equipment; and repairs of flooring at the building.
Duties:
  • Ability to perform duties onsite at the facility.
  • Conducts mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair as needed throughout the entire facility.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment
  • Keeps facility grounds clean of refuse.
  • Repairs wheelchairs, beds, light fixtures, call lights, curtain/cubicle rods, and closet doors.
  • Raises flags (as weather permits).
  • Cleans boiler rooms, workshop, and storage areas.
  • Knows and practices good safety habits. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Additional Responsibilities are marginal tasks that the employee may be asked to perform from time to time. The employee will be expected to complete these tasks when instructed by a supervisor even though they may not be central to the position itself.
  • Performs weekly checks of all roof top equipment (exhaust, heater). Cleans compactor/dumpster areas weekly. Assists with snow removal.
  • Assists with setting up of special activities.
  • Replaces ceiling tiles and electrical outlets as needed.
  • Reports and records information pertaining to preventative maintenance.
Education:
  • High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent required
Two years of experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing repair.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to perform physical and other job demands of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must exercise confidentiality to ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulation
