Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and extremely friendly Patient Billing Specialist to join our team at Southern Skies Dermatology. As a Patient Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in working directly with patients to pay down their balances. Should be comfortable maintaining financial records, speaking to patients over the phone about their accounts, and providing exceptional customer service. Your primary responsibility will be on the patient balance portion of our billing operations rather than the insurance portion. You will need to process patient payments, generate patient invoices, and resolve any patient discrepancies or issues.

Responsibilities:

Use our spreadsheet dashboards to track our patients with account balances.

Contact patients over-the-phone to discuss their account, collect payments, or setup a payment plan.

Process billing transactions and generate accurate invoices for products or services rendered.

Investigate and resolve patient billing discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.

Communicate with internal teams and patients to gather necessary billing information and resolve any billing inquiries or disputes.

Monitor patient accounts receivable, post patient payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.

Requirements:

Proven experience in billing, accounts receivable, or a related role.

Strong attention to detail and numerical aptitude.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Knowledge of relevant billing regulations, such as HIPAA, is desirable.

Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 billing codes is desirable.

Associate's degree in accounting or a related field is desirable.

Experience in google sheets or Microsoft excel.
