The Market Bar is searching for a part-time Custodian to work evenings and weekends.

General Job Description :

The Marketplace Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of the building and surrounding grounds. Their duties include vacuuming and mopping floors, cleaning, restocking and sanitizing restroom facilities, collecting trash, and other duties to ensure the building occupants and patrons have a clean space.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Custodian :

Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.

Performs heavy cleaning duties.

Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.

Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions.

Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.

Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.

Ensures doors are locked after cleaning areas.

Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.

Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.

Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.

Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and / or based on seasonal / event requirements.

May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or

other similar activities.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Bar Back Support

Assist the bartenders during rush hours.

Tidy up tables, counters and other bar areas.

Collect empty glasses and bottles. Clean glasses.

Remove trash and wipe down drink spills.

Refill ice bins.

Clean rags throughout the shift.

Ensure health, safety and sanitation standards are followed at all times.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS :

Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

Company Policy

Any employee receiving kick-backs or compensation from vendors, customers or outside sources shall be deemed a conflict of interest and subject to immediate termination and prosecution.

Employees must report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of drugs or

alcohol. In addition, absolutely no drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of drugs is allowed while on the job.

Any employee caught stealing from the business, whether it be money, inventory or otherwise, will be subject to immediate termination.

This includes giving product away to friends, family members, or patrons - without reasonable cause to do so.)

Any employee handling / serving alcohol will need to be TIPS certified

There is no smoking or vaping allowed in the building at any time.
