Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the general accounting function of the Company, use professional accounting concepts and internal Company policies to solve complex accounting issues including participate in and conduct monthly financial close, supervise the assignments of staff / senior accountants. You will also prepare monthly management financial reporting packages and executive summary schedules, coordinate and facilitate the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures, oversee the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements, and evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes to ensure that practices are in line with the overall goal of the department. This role will also assume responsibility around the Company’s day to day operation of the Treasury function, as well as, the Company SAP-BPC system application administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion/accuracy of all Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Facilitate entire month-end close process.
  • Manage monthly analytical review process for all Income Statement and Balance Sheet line items.
  • Participate in the development of both the budget and the forecast at the department level.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits and provide information to auditors
  • Provide information to tax accountants in connection with the preparation of quarterly income tax provision and federal and state income tax returns.
  • Interface with Corporate banking relationships to update and monitor bank line of credit and operating activity.
  • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly cash operating requirements.
  • Responsible for administration of SAP-BPC application and for maintaining application process with various departments.
  • Maintain relationship with SAP-BPC software and service providers for software troubleshooting and project development.
  • Carry out various ad hoc accounting research and reporting.
  • Ensure timely administration of department’s performance appraisals.
  • Maintain proficient understanding of company policies and procedures, departmental goals, and business plan; communicate in a persuasive manner to staff.
  • Determine and implement procedural changes to drive automation and efficiency.
  • Supervise treatment of fixed asset acquisitions and reporting, in addition to determining treatment of capital/operating leases
  • Serve as backup to the Payroll Manager
  • Serve as a member of the Accounting team providing assistance as needed.

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial disclosures, the financial statement close process required
  • Knowledge of SEC rules and regulations preferred and exposure to the preparation and presentation of financial statements under SEC and GAAP guidelines preferred
  • Strong understanding of an effective and efficient internal control environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
  • In depth Microsoft Excel experience, BPC or Hyperion experience a plus
  • Treasury Management System experience a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work with senior management; as well, ability to interface effectively and establish positive working relationships with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and participate in change and to adapt to change in a positive manner.

Previous experience necessary:

  • 5-8 years accounting experience required; Big 4 preferred
