About This RoleIf you enjoy working with a great group of professionals, are accurate, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy using your CAD drafting skills, then we have a role for you! Potelco, Inc. seeks a great CAD Drafter to join the team at our Tigard Oregon Office.
The CAD Drafter works with the Engineering and design team, supporting various projects, importing maps, drawing in roads, buildings, proposed cable paths, etc. From there, they will need to complete the base mapping, design, and overall establishment of safely designed work. Size and duration of projects vary, and this person could be working on dozens of projects at a time. Their assignments will be received from the Project Managers and Engineers. What You'll Do
- Drafting of utility designs within AutoCAD as overseen by a Project Engineer or Project Manager.
- Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to utility designs with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Project Leads, and client staff.
- Convert preliminary designs for facility replacement and system upgrades to standardized mapping products.
- This position will include knowledge of voltage regulation, electrical load calculations, system protection, and fuse coordination for distribution systems.
- Utilize electric utility’s internal computer programs for job task completion, required submittal forms, material entry and working in CAD (some GIS) mapping environments.
- 6 months of CAD drafting experience in a previous professional role or school.
- Ability to quickly learn a customized AutoCAD interface.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s).
- Must pass mandatory background check
- Valid driver’s license.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- CAD certification.
- Ability to develop tool profiles, palette, and build things out on AutoCAD.
