This is a unique position for a non profit dog rescue, involving a variety of responsibilities. No work day is exactly alike due to the fluid nature of animal rescue. This is not just a job, this is being a part of a positive mission to make a difference for homeless animals.
This position will need the following skills:
About the workplace environment:
Tools you will need for the job:
Programs or applications you will need to get comfortable using on a daily basis (these are all easy enough to self-teach if you are not already using them):
What an average work week might look like:
In regards to having dog-handling skills - you can learn as you go. It is almost better if you don't have professional experience working with dogs, so that you don't have bad habits that you need to unlearn. We subscribe to a force-free philosophy in how we interact with our dogs.
If you are a kind person, with an even temperament, and you are non-reactive and can keep your cool when faced with a stressful or unpredictable situation, then you will do just fine learning to work with the dogs.
This job can be what you make it. If you have a positive attitude and want to learn, you can have a great experience. If you are someone that needs a fixed schedule where nothing ever changes, you won't be happy here as the nature of animal rescue is unpredictable and the work days can sometimes go longer than a traditional job.
Our non profit is growing and we need enthusiastic, smart, self starters to help us get to the next level in order to be able to save more lives of shelter animals!
$22 an hour with the potential to reach $25 an hour when specific milestones are achieved. It all depends on the right candidate. A job applicant that is hard working and smart and eager to learn, and is flexible, reliable, with a positive attitude, will have room to move up and earn more with time.
For the right full-time person that plans to be here on an ongoing basis, we would be open to reimbursing for medical insurance (this can be discussed after you've worked here for ninety days)
Here's an insider tip for those applicants that want to stand out. The last time we posted this job on Indeed, we were unbelievably overwhelmed with resumes and couldn't get through them all.
For enthusiastic applicants, who want to stand out from the crowd and get your resume seen - below are some optional bonus tasks to complete. If you perform one or both of these tasks, your resume will be given priority over other applicants.
These are tasks that will give a job applicant the opportunity to show off some of their skill sets.
Bonus tasks to complete in addition to your resume:
1) Show us how you self-teach and gather new information and present it in an organized way
We post our rescue videos on the following platforms: Facebook posts, Facebook reels, Instagram posts, Instagram reels, TikTok, YouTube (long form) and YouTube shorts. Each place that we post a video, requires different dimensions of the video as well as has a maximum number of length that each video can be.
The task for you is to go online, gather the information for each platform, then present it to us in an organized manner. Please email your results to CampCockerCathy@gmail. We will be able to see if you are able to gather correct information and what your style is in how you present it.
2) Show us your video editing skills
A big part of our social media posts involve edited videos to highlight our dogs for adoption or for fundraising for our medical dogs.
Go on our Facebook page and download any of our livestreams (we livestream our dogs frequently). Use the footage to make a short form video, sixty seconds to ninety seconds is enough to tell a story about the dog, what they need (an adopter? donations for medical?). You can figure out from the livestream post details what each dog is needing to help guide you. Be sure to email your finished video sample to us as well.
Good luck and we look forward to finding out who will be the next employee to join Camp Cocker Rescue!
