Humana is Hiring a Medical Coding Supervisor Near Tampa, FL

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health firstThe Supervisor, Medical Coding extracts clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, CPT) to patient records. The Supervisor, Medical Coding works within thorough, prescribed guidelines and procedures; uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors to solve basic problems; collaborates with management and top professionals/specialists in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach.

The Supervisor, Medical Coding confirms appropriate diagnosis related group (DRG) assignments.

Job Functions

  • Analyzes, enters and manipulates database.
  • Responds to or clarifies internal requests for medical information.
  • Decisions are typically related to schedule, plans and daily operations.
  • Performs escalated or more complex work of a similar nature and supervises a group of typically support and technical associates; coordinates and provides day-to-day oversight to associates.
  • Ensures consistency in execution across team. Holds team members accountable for following established policies.

Required Qualifications

·Bachelor's Degree

·Must have 3 plus years of Supervisor experience

·4 - 6 years of related experience

·Acute in-patient and/or outpatient coding experience

·Must have one of the following Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC (Certified Professional Coder)

·Must be able to complete the Certified Professional Biller within one year of hire

·Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

·Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak and interpret medical terminology and coding terms in English

Additional Information:

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 to 5:00

Location: Must reside in FL - This is a hybrid home position where employees primarily work from their home office, occasionally using company office space for collaboration and face-to-face needs. #LI-Hybrid

This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$63,400 - $87,400 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
