· Manage projects within the Capital Improvements Department, ensuring adherence to standards, project schedules and budgets.
· Collaborate with internal shareholders, including city officials, department managers, and project teams, to identify and prioritize infrastructure needs and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
· Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
· Coordinate with consultants, regulatory agencies, and contractors through planning, design, and construction phases to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
· Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to continuously improve engineering process and methodologies.
Requires the ability to drive, sit, stand, kneel, twist, climb and lift moderate weight (up to 50 pounds). Will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while inspecting project sites. Protective clothing or equipment on job sites is required.· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
· Minimum of ten (10) years of civil engineering experience, with demonstrated experience in design/managing capital improvement projects; municipal experience is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards, including but not limited to transportation, water resources, utilities, and infrastructure design.
· Proficiency in utilizing engineering software and tools for design, analysis, and project management.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and internal/external stakeholders.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
