· Design and/or manage the design of projects within the Capital Improvements Department, ensuring adherence to standards, project schedules and budgets.
· Supervise the preparation of construction drawings, cost estimates, specifications, bid documents, and construction schedules.
· Coordinate with consultants, regulatory agencies, and contractors through planning, design, and construction phases to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
· Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to continuously improve engineering process and methodologies
Requires the ability to drive, sit, stand, kneel, twist, climb and lift moderate weight (up to 50 pounds). Will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while inspecting project sites. Protective clothing or equipment on job sites is required.· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
· Minimum of five (5) years of civil engineering experience, with experience in design/managing capital improvement projects; municipal experience is preferred.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering software.
· Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards, including but not limited to transportation, water resources, utilities, and infrastructure design.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy
