Alabama State Department of Education is Hiring an Assistant Principal (Possible) Near Tuscumbia, AL
Reports To: Principal
Salary: Based on salary schedule for 207 days.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goal: To assist the principal in providing school-wide leadership in the area of
curriculum and other assigned duties as needs dictate. He/she is expected to maintain the effective working relationship with other administrators, teacher, maintenance staff, clerical staff, and student personnel.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Valid Alabama certification in Administration/Supervision.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience in public schools.
- Must complete a criminal background check through the Alabama State Department of Education at your own expense.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to work with department heads and teachers in coordinating curriculum offerings and recommend changes as needs dictate.
- Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- May serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
- Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities.
- Deals with discipline of students; confers with parents regarding student problems.
- Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests.
- Assists in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
- Assist in designing the master schedule for the school.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
