Refrigeration Maintenance Technician

Summary

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have 6 months of continuous work experience within the last 12 months.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and technical experience in plumbing, electrical or automotive is a plus
• Ammonia training and certification will be provided by the employer if the position is accepted.
• HVAC Experience preferred.
• Need full range of motion of arms, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, all digits, and legs. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time with a sense of balance.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a respirator.
• May work with corrective lenses if vision problems.
• May be provided PPE for additional hearing protection as needed.
• Must pass post offer health assessment and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• During your work shift, which will consist of (10) hours, you must be willing to move around the work area at a fast pace and willing to bend, squat, lift, push, pull, up to (50) pounds.
• Complete hourly checks documenting readings for all ammonia systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, recirculators, and any piping or associated equipment.
• Complete daily inspections of equipment.
• Maintain and monitor the ammonia refrigeration equipment within safety standards for the entire facility.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance or repairs on forklifts.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance or repairs on the building.
• You may be on-call at times as required for sufficient coverage.
• You will also be part of the HAZMAT response / cleanup team.
• At certain times, other job duties may be part of the routine.
• Follow all Tyson Policies and Safety Guidelines.

Environment

• You may work extended times in damp and cold environments with temperatures ranging from -5 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. (Up to 10 hours)
• You will be provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Team members will furnish their own boots and must wear either steel or composite toe boots that conform to ANSI 75lbs or more PSI rating with a slip resistant sole that covers the ankles.

Composite toe preferred) Tyson will purchase a pair of boots for you after 30 days on the job or you will be reimbursed up to a specified amount.

• Standing or walking up to 100% of the time
• May be exposed to the elements or extreme temperatures when working outside.
