Tavares Surgery Center, a Covenant Physician Partner, is hiring a Fulltime Endoscopy Technician located in Tavares, FL.

About the Opportunity

The pre and post-op technician in the surgery center is a trained technician who assists the Registered Nurse in preparing patients for procedures, and caring for them post-op.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Assists the Registered Nurse in preparing the patient for surgery and assists with post-op care.
• Checks pre/ post op area for cleanliness and orderliness.
• Brings the patient to pre-op area and assists with changing if needed.
• Takes vital signs.
• Makes sure all pre-op testing, H&P, and necessary paperwork are on chart prior to surgical procedure.
• Transports patients to and from procedure rooms.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Restocks carts
• Orders and stocks supplies
• Informs Registered Nurse of any abnormal vital signs, etc.
• Offer patient light snack and drink after the procedure.
• Directs family members.
• Includes family / patient in post-op instructions.
• Coordinates patient transportation.
• Participates in QAPI, Infection Control and Safety Program.
• Demonstrated knowledge of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e. patient body fluids, disinfectant chemicals) and location of SDS sheets.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

About the Candidate

• High school education or equivalent
• 1 year of healthcare industry experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in Endoscopy processing is preferred.
• Current certification in BCLS or willingness to complete a course within a month of being offered this position. 
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with physicians and all medical professionals.
