Position:

Interactors are the heart and spirit of Discovery Cube. They are responsible for interacting and engaging with a wide range of people in a very dynamic and high energy environment.

The Retail Interactor plays a crucial role in ensuring our members and guests enjoy a positive and memorable shopping experience while visiting with us. They are responsible for providing friendly and professional customer service to guests in our Elements Store and Cube Café. Daily tasks include taking transactions, sharing product knowledge, addressing customer concerns, and maintaining show readiness at all times.

The Retail Interactor will report to the Retail Shift Lead on duty to ensure all guests have a fun, safe, and productive experience in our onsite retail locations.

Responsibilities:

• Cashiering: Understand and use the Galaxy POS to process transactions, returns, donations, and other related tasks
• Merchandising: Contribute to the visual appeal of the store by maintaining product displays, arranging merchandise, and ensuring a clean and organized environment
• Inventory Management: Help manage and organize inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained and assisting in restocking shelves, displays, and cashwrap areas
• Store Operations: Perform various tasks related to store operations, including opening/closing procedures, product labeling, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting in any additional tasks as needed
• Customer Service Excellence: Engage customers with a friendly and helpful approach, providing product information and assistance
• Sales Support: Assist customers in finding the perfect products, process transactions accurately, and contribute to achieving sales targets
• Interaction: Proactively engage guests, share product knowledge, and inform them about upcoming Discovery Cube exhibits, events, and sales
• Problem Solving: Resolve customer complaints and identify areas for improvement
• Being a “Cubie:” Maintain knowledge of Discovery Cube mission, vision, exhibits, and programming to share with guests

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1-year experience in a fast-paced customer service environment preferred
• Prior cash handling experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Prior experience working with children preferred
• Friendly demeanor and ability to interact with adults and children of all ages
• Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time without reasonable accommodation
• Must be a proactive, self-starter and require little supervision
• Basic computer knowledge required (email, internet browsing)
• Demonstrated ability to use all Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs. for short periods of time
• Must be able to safely bend to turn exhibits on or off
• Knowledge of a second language a plus but not required
• Weekend availability required
