We are seeking a skilled and proactive Systems Engineer with strong storage experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in IT infrastructure, including but not limited to storage, servers, networking, and virtualization, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with a talented team to deliver innovative IT solutions.

About you:

• 5 years of experience in IT systems engineering with a focus on storage technologies.
• Strong proficiency and experience in Windows and Linux server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
• Strong proficiency and experience of networking and security concepts, technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, endpoint protection and encryption technologies.
• Strong proficiency and experience of storage concepts and protocols, such as SMB/CIFS, NFS, iSCSI and Fibre Channel.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including network security, endpoint security, and security operations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a timely manner.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

About the role:

• Design, architect, and implement storage solutions to meet the performance, capacity, and reliability requirements of the organisation.
• Evaluate and recommend storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and other storage systems, based on business needs and industry best practices.
• Design, deploy, and maintain other IT infrastructure components, including but not limited to servers, networking equipment, and virtualization platforms.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
• Manage and administer Windows and Linux server environments, including configuration, patch management, and security hardening.
• Configure and maintain network devices, such as routers, switches, wireless access points and firewalls, to support business requirements.
• Implement and support virtualization technologies, such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox, to optimise resource utilisation and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and support business-critical applications, services and security controls.
• Perform security reviews of new technologies, applications, and systems to identify security risks and provide recommendations for mitigating controls.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications.
• Participate in capacity planning and forecasting activities to support the long-term IT requirements of the organisation.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior members of the IT team, sharing knowledge and best practices in systems engineering.
• Be available to provide support outside of traditional working hours, including nights and weekends as reasonably required.
