Inventory Technician
THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION
This is a full time position, 4 day work week, Monday to Thursday Hours - 6 am to 4:30 pm

General Responsibilities/Purposes:
  • Performs various tasks required to maintain the accuracy of data within the MRP/ERP Systems including the inventory of finished products, raw materials, and Work in Process materials. 
  • Helps to set controls and operate both hand-held and desktop computer equipment to enter data for production scheduling, and inventory adjustment; assists stockroom and planning personnel with data transactions, movement of materials, and cycle counting.
Specific Duties/Accountabilities:
  • The incumbent has designated areas of responsibility listed below which are handled directly or delegated to appropriate Operations Personnel:
  • Enters & reviews data to take action to resolve system malfunctions and other data entry production errors. Processes rework, product reclassification, and rescheduling transactions. Reconciles and manages cycle count discrepancies. Researches and evaluates discrepancies, recommends resolutions for problems in reports and inventory records, and resolves these issues. Runs and analyzes status, exceptions and other reports as assigned.
  • Audits the physical and record management of all inventories within the warehouses. Investigates discrepancies with customer and/or internal records and/or the actual count of product by validating the ERP, inventory transactions and pallet identification. Determine and document root cause of discrepancy, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of outcome. This would include identification of operator or system error and technical issues.
  • Reviews daily production reports for completeness and informs appropriate production personnel of discrepancies.
The above activities comprise the majority of the incumbent’s time and are vital to successful fulfillment of the position’s responsibility.
Education or Basic Knowledge Required:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Associates degree preferred. Must be able to demonstrate skill in managing data capture, reporting and analysis in an ERP or similar system.

Experience Required:
  • 3 years or more of experience that provided an understanding of production environments; at least 2 years of experience must have included manipulating computer systems, coding system data, system-generating reports and analyzing data. 
  • A two-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration can be substituted for two years of experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and ERP systems is required.

Complexity of Duties:
  • Must have intermediate data entry skills and working knowledge of ERP Systems. Must be able to read and interpret detailed Excel spreadsheets and operation instructions. 
  • Must be detail oriented and able to understand and follow specific inventory and cycle count procedures. Must also be able to exercise sound judgment to research and solve problems independently.
Responsibility for Errors:
  • Most work is performed independently and is not directly verified or checked. Must be able to research and evaluate discrepancies in reports and resolve issues efficiently, although error-resolution can be time-consuming. Uncorrected errors can be costly, and inaccuracies can result in serious accounting and billing errors and poor customer satisfaction.
Responsibility for Relationships With Others:
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with all levels of employees in production, warehouse, and office environments to assure accurate data entry and system operations. 
  • Must also be able to explain procedures to less experienced workers and provide them with on-the-job training. Regular contact with the Operations, PMO, Supply Chain, and Administrative Departments is required. Outside contacts are minimal.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

None. MUST BE A US CITIZEN.
