About this opportunity:Cenovus is currently looking for a Supervisor, Maintenance (Electrical & Instrumentation) position for the Superior, WI location. Reporting to the Maintenance Execution Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance work in their assigned area, closely with an Operations Asset Team to determine the prioritization, planning, and scheduling of Instrument related work as well as the day-to-day supervision of Maintenance craft employees in the Electrical and Instrument field, including setting up work crews and providing support during the shift as needed.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for health, safety and environmental performance and awareness in area of responsibility to achieve our goals of no accidents, no harm to people and no harm to the environment. Investigates accidents and near misses. Prepares and conducts safety meetings. Coordinates and participates in all refinery safety programs. Maintains a clean, safe work site and ensures adequate housekeeping
  • Administers and/or participates in the support of the Employee Policy. That is, everyone knows what is expected of them (expectations/competencies), everyone has open discussions (appraisals) about performance issues, everyone is helped/helps develop employee capabilities (personal development), and everyone will be listened to and involved in improving their team’s performance (feedback)
  • Leads optimal utilization of refinery Electrical and Instrumentation resources to support process unit E&I availability for assigned areas of the refinery
  • An important part of this role is providing a proactive maintenance focus for the area of responsibility
  • Develop and implement improved job methods, techniques, tools, and equipment for improving overall maintenance effectiveness
  • Handles and optimizes the utilization of craftsmen across the site
  • Provide technical assistance to aid craftsmen in troubleshooting and to ensure quality of work
  • Ensures the appropriate technical resources are notified and consulted to test and evaluate equipment
  • Ensure accurate and complete data is collected regarding repair work, equipment data, changes to plan, and recommendations for future work
  • Assists Maintenance Planning in defining scope of work, material list and estimate, and in reviewing bids
  • Works with Process Engineers, Area Managers, Area Superintendents, OMC’s, Fixed Equipment Supervisors, Rotating Supervisors, Maintenance Planner, Scheduler and Maintenance Engineers to build and enhance teamwork
  • Participates in daily and weekly work order scheduling meetings, providing information on ongoing jobs, maintenance priorities and efficient use of available resources
  • Assists in developing and justifying recommendations to address backlog management issues and overtime
  • Responsible for job preparation activities, including assignment of craftsmen to jobs, reviewing scope of work, identifying, and communicating changes to plan, verifying availability of materials and tools, and confirming schedule viability
  • Responsible for performing maintenance work in a safe, efficient, and effective manner according to plan and for ensuring quality of work. Actively communicates the status of work to Planning & Scheduling
  • Determines changes in scope and appropriate course of action to prevent schedule impacts, if possible
  • Understands and is compliant with all Control of Work (CoW) and Process Safety policies and procedures
  • Participates in training programs for refinery personnel
  • Supports Turnaround organizations as required
  • May be required to work off-shift and weekend assignments
  • Participates in training programs for refinery personnel
  • Assist in HAZOPs, MOC’s, Incident Investigations, and Job Safety Analysis
  • Administers the union-company labor agreement fairly and firmly, with an understanding and consideration for the company’s position on issues. Coordinates' actions and responses with other members of management. Investigate grievances thoroughly and respond at first step. Participates in arbitration hearings as required
  • May fill in for other Maintenance and Shop Supervisors. Resources supervised may include refinery craft employees or contractor personnel
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Desired work experience: 7 years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma, 5 years of relevant work experience with an associate degree, or 3 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree
  • Leadership experience
Preferred
  • Management skills in scheduling, budgeting, and workforce requirements
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation fields (codes and standards)
  • Analyzing Problems/Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Able to systematically determine the root cause(s) of problems through questioning and inspecting, and then identify the best course of action to take
  • Understanding of the Union-Company Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Skilled in conducting an incident investigation
  • Assist in HAZOPs, MOC’s, Incident Investigations, and Job Safety Analysis
  • Competent in reading technical drawings
  • Computer Programs - Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ability to work in the field and climb and work at heights
