DescriptionCome join the amazing Community Action Program of Belknap-Merrimack Counties team!We are a private non-profit committed to doing all we can in the fight against poverty. Our legacy goes back to the 1960's and we manage over 70 programs designed to help those who need it most.
You'll join a team of talented and passionate people who are motivated to make our community as strong and resilient as possible.HOURS: Monday – Friday, 22.5 hours per week.
Position SummaryThe Food Pantry Assistant serves as a member of the Area Resource center team and is responsible for supporting the needs of a bust food pantry. Responsibilities include organizing, stocking, and distributing food to customers. The position also assists with food donations from various sources.
Program Responsibilites
  • Manages the food pantry and Area Center, including daily operations of preparing and distributing food to community members.
  • Maintains organization of food pantry, including stocking, organizing and inventory as well as unloading and putting away food from USDA and other donations.
  • Assists in general office functions related to the food pantry, which may include paperwork, filing, cleaning, and other duties.

  • Be committed to the Agency's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Express courtesy and willingness to assist others while providing positive, prompt, and quality assistance to all CAPBM stakeholders.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of all CAPBM programs to make referrals to other CAPBM programs beneficial to the participant.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff per CAPBM policy and procedure. Adhere strictly to the confidentiality of clients, co-workers, and internal business information.
  • Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CAPBM.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment; and attend team and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work, use time appropriately, and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

RequirementsExperience:
  • One year of experience working or volunteering in food pantry.
  • A strong desire to assist others in helping themselves.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • General office skills.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalency credential.
License/Certification
  • Successful completion of criminal record check.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation for required travel.

The Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc. (CAPBMCI, CAPBM, CAP-BM, BMCAP) is a New Hampshire-based 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit organization. The agency was established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. Under this Act, over twelve hundred Community Action Agencies (CAA) were established nationwide. The primary mission of the organization is to work with low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities to assist them in their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent. The Agency accomplished this task ... by providing a broad array of services that are locally defined, planned, and managed. The agency sponsors and manages seventy-three (73) programs designed to meet the needs of children, families, single parents, and the elderly. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food and shelter. The agency is funded by Federal, State, county, and local funds (37 cities and towns in Belknap and Merrimack Counties).
