Job DescriptionSTUDENT SUPERVISORARGO COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOLIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Dean of Students and/or Administration
CLASSIFICATION: 10 Month Non-Certified Staff and Summer Supervision
Primary ResponsibilitesSupervision of students throughout the building and campus including: non-teacher controlled environments, common areas (lunchroom, hallways, etc) and school sponsored events/activities as directed by the Administration and/or immediate supervisor. The ideal candidate will
  • Supervise students in in-school suspension/credit recovery on a daily basis:
  • Administer tests, quizzes and coursework from the student’s teachers
  • Manage and monitor student discipline in in-school suspension and develop a rapport with students
  • Assist in maintaining an interactive classroom environment with students, in addition to implementing an agenda on a daily basis
  • Monitor arrival and dismissal of students through student attendance
  • Assisting with student lunches while in in-school suspension
  • Provide personalized attention and assistance to students
  • Assist with clerical tasks
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Maintain records and reports
  • Ability to learn new methods and techniques
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, orderly and healthy environment which enhances formal learning and related/supportive activities
  • Monitor and protect the health and safety of all students, employees and visitors
  • Assist in maintaining safe buildings and grounds by removing graffiti, removing trash and cleaning up liquid spills in a timely manner
  • Prevent and report student misbehavior/disruption in halls, cafeteria, restrooms, on school grounds and at school related and/or building events/activities
  • Intervene and stop student misbehaviors/disruptions of any kind
  • Enforce the student regulatory policy at all times
  • Assist in the investigation and information gathering process of student infraction(s) as directed by immediate supervisor
  • Circulate throughout the building regularly
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities associated with assignments as directed
  • Promptly report any irregularities, infractions or potential problems observed to immediate supervisor
  • Clearly, professionally and respectfully communicate with students, staff and visitors in maintaining order
  • Work with all District personnel to provide a harmonious operation of building activities
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and student/employee confidentiality at all times
  • Present an appearance of appropriate dress, cleanliness and hygiene
  • Maintain AED, CPR and Menta (de-escalation training) Certification
ResponsibilitiesADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned by the Administration and/or immediate supervisor. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development – Mandatory CPI Certification
QualificationsExcellent interpersonal skills, including a regard for adolescence and an understanding of their basic developmental needs for respect, order and structure with the ability to verbally communicate with students, parents, visitors and staff in a professional manner. Strong candidates should have
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Excellent health and personal stability
  • Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift objects of a minimum 25 pounds
  • Experience in managing crowds/group behavior preferred
Hours7 ½ hour shift between 6:45 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Salary & BenefitsCompensation will start at $ 26.08 per hour with occasional overtime and flexibility (to be revised afer CBA negotiations). This is a union-based position that comes with a variety of great benefits, to include sick, personal and paid holidays. Additional benefits offered are
