U.S. Census Bureau is Hiring a Supervisory Program Specialist Near Suitland, MD

Duties
  • Provides technical leadership and broad programmatic oversight to guide the managers of the Freedom of Information Act, Records Management, and History branches, coordinating activities among these branches.
  • Fosters internal and external communications to identify and resolve legal, policy, and privacy issues.
  • Recommends and develops projects to examine alternative concepts and methodologies to maximize efficient management and use of personnel, as well as fiscal and contractual resources, while minimizing risks.
  • Supervises one or more employees on a regular and recurring basis.

  • This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.
QualificationsSpecialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal services. Expert knowledge of the principles of strategic planning, and program development and review to develop programs to accomplish agreed-upon goals and objectives, including resources allocation to specific projects and project scheduling; Knowledge of the theory, principles, concepts, and practices of administrative management to analyze factual information, evaluate significant factors, and resolve complex problems related to the Policy Coordination Office, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Records Management, and History activities; Skilled in written communications to prepare comprehensive reports, summary presentations, talking points, and recommendations to interpret and explain highly complex, and important agency policies, programs, and research findings; Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective and mutually cooperative work relationships with representatives within the Bureau and with other Federal agencies and private sector experts.
Education: Education can not substitute for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
Additional information
If hired for this position with the Census Bureau, at its headquarters office located in Suitland, Maryland, you will be expected to temporarily telework to maximum extent while the headquarters building is being renovated. Once renovations are completed for your area, you will be notified when to return to the office.
