Accounting Professional

DSI is excited to announce the search for a new Accounting Professional to lead our Hardscape/Landscape Financial Operations in Sterling Heights, MI. This individual will have the opportunity to become a key member of our leadership team and contribute to the high level decision-making that will continue to shape the direction and growth of the company.

The Position:

The Decra-Scape Accounting Professional oversees day-to-day activities in our hardscape design/build organization. They are a versatile professional able to provide clear direction amidst competing and changing priorities. The position reports to the Integrator and oversees the Accounting department.

  • Financial Analyses, A/R, A/P, Budgeting and Cash Flow Forecasting.
  • Process payroll through Aspire and QuickBooks payroll module.
  • Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries.
  • Record and Review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance prior to distribution and End of Month Close by 15th of the Month.
  • Maintains General Ledger.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Enter accounting related information into business logs.
  • Inspect account books for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Organize and update financial records.
  • Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors.
  • Job Costing and Project Close Out.
  • Balance month end statements detailing the sales and purchases, gains and losses, interest and dividends, of securities, then prepare journal entries.
  • Pay IRA, healthcare, sub funds and payroll taxes. Prepare and file quarterly and year-end tax reports. Follow up on any discrepancies related to prior tax returns. Taxes are paid weekly, monthly or quarterly, which ever applies.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal summaries, adjusting entries, and run financial reports. Review general ledger and reports prior to distribution.
  • Prepare year-end accruals, prepare annual financial statements with footnote information.
  • Monitor bank balances on a daily basis. Maintain day sheets or run account balances electronically. Transfer necessary monies to the benefit, administrative bank accounts, trust accounts, investments in Certificates of Deposits or other investment vehicles. Deposit account transfers are made on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, as needed or required. Process manual deposits, sent directly to bank from our office.
  • Review invoices for proper authorizations.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups
  • Liaising with Staff, Strategic Partners and Clients. Supporting Business Development and Integrator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical, Mental and Visual Skills:

BA in Accounting, Business Administration, or relevant field

Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel.

Aspire Software knowledge is preferred but not required

Financial Acumen

Able to maintain confidences and manage a variety of confidential records

Background in the landscape construction industry is preferred but not required

Work requires continual attention to detail, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines

Good organizational and communication skills.

Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently and be self-motivated.

Ability to provide effective written and verbal instructions, as well as to retrieve information from technical sources.

Ability to use logical or rational thinking to solve problems.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations including calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

Attention to detail and skilled in working with figures.

Ability to visually verify various report results.

Ability to accomplish the desired duties through the use of appropriate computer and general office equipment, primarily using accounting software, payroll systems and Microsoft software.

Ability to perform light physical work; may be required to lift up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, up to ten pounds frequently and up to five pounds constantly, performing such activities as bending stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping for up to five hours without sitting.

  • Ability to be effectively work in a fast paced, open concept environment.
