We are a small law firm in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on track for aggressive growth. We fight for justice for our clients in criminal defense and personal injury. We care for our clients and want them to feel as though they come out of their experience a better person, in a better position, and that they had a team behind them that really cared and fought for them. We are looking for a full-time Criminal Defense Attorney to join our team who works either in our Steamboat Springs office or remote, or a combination. We need someone who can hit the ground running and work directly with the clients.

The Brown Law Firm has over 20 years of experience and would love to help you learn and grow in your legal career. We handle all kinds of criminal cases in mountain towns, mostly in Routt and Moffat Counties, but also in Jackson, Grand, Rio Blanco, Eagle and Summit Counties. While we are available to provide advice and support, the end goal is someone who will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand holding. We have several support staff members to help as well. If selected, you will receive comprehensive training on our office systems and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into your role.

This is a unique opportunity for remote work, in-person or a hybrid combination to fit your needs. Most of our court hearings are now via WebEx but we do have physical office space on Park Avenue in Steamboat Springs. We aim to enable you to enjoy the activities this area has to offer and maintain a positive work-life balance while developing your career.

You’ll be entrusted with existing and new cases, with the autonomy to handle them with guidance from start to finish, including court appearances, DMV hearings and potential jury trials. We are seeking someone who excels in the courtroom but also values client relationships. Your role will extend beyond legal representation as you guide clients through the legal process, earn their trust and secure the best possible outcome for their case.

Salary will be a base of $100,000-$120,000 depending on experience, with an aggressive bonus structure based on revenue earned for the firm.

Responsibilities:

- Manage a diverse caseload of misdemeanor and felony cases across Colorado State, County and Municipal Courts;

- Take the lead in jury trials;

- Utilize software to maintain accurate case information and metrics;

- Collaborate with legal support staff to ensure efficient case resolution while adhering to firm policies and procedures;

- Navigate multiple counties within the mountain towns of Colorado for court appearance;

Qualifications:

- Licensed attorney in good standing in the State of Colorado;

- Exceptional interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with clients;

- Willingness to commute to surrounding counties, with travel in mountain towns when virtual is not an option;

- Reliable vehicle for attending court proceedings in various locations when virtual is not an option;

- Excellent time management skills in order to effectively manage multiple scheduling demands and meet deadlines, with shifting priorities on a day-to-day basis;

- Proficiency with or ability to easily learn various software programs.

Compensation:

$100,000-$120,000 yearly
