DTE ES Operations, LLC is Hiring a Water treatment technician Near Stanton, TN

Job Summary

Location : Stanton, TN

This position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and performing routine maintenance on all equipment located within the newly constructed Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP) located at Fords Blue Oval City complex.

Work is performed under direct supervision of a Plant Manager or Lead Operator and performance is reviewed against an established set of goals and Company policies and procedures.

The IWTP will receive and process 500K GPD of industrial wastewater from the automotive plants Final Assembly and Paint Shop (E-Coat).

The IWTP equipment includes the following : tanks, mixers, pumps, valves, thickeners, rakes, filter presses, totes, UF equipment, instrumentation, control valves and PLC control systems.

Key Accountabilities

Assures that the plant operates within all required standards, including discharge permit requirements

Monitors treatment equipment, tank levels and processes

Controls flows throughout the IWTP

Conducts multiple rounds per shift to inspect equipment, ensures systems are functional, collects / logs performance data, and communicates operational problems as they arise

Ensures accuracy of shift operating logs, data, and records

Monitors daily consumption and inventory of chemicals and initiates action to replenish as needed

Responds to alarms and abnormalities and takes corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and prudent industry best practices and provides accurate information, analysis, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans

Performs all shift operations and routine preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all systems and equipment

Performs routine water chemistry testing, takes samples, runs / interprets laboratory tests, and adds appropriate chemicals as needed to ensure adherence to water quality specifications

Cleans and maintains plant facilities and equipment in accordance with plant housekeeping standards

Performs all duties in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Complies with all site safety requirements and procedures

Participation in the basic safety processes as key member of the Site Safety Committee, leading monthly safety meetings and having a shared responsibility for the site's overall safety performance

Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective actions as necessary

Assist with developing and revising operations and maintenance procedures as required

Performs other duties necessary to fulfill plant requirements

Communicates and coordinates activities with company, customer, and vendor personnel

Assists other team members and works with all departments to support corporate and plant goals

Handles and uses chemicals in a safe and environmentally responsible manner

Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to off-hour call-ins as needed

Participates in assigned continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility

Completes time sheets, work orders, and other administrative documents accurately and timely

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or GED, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience operating Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants.

Must possess appropriate Wastewater Operator license / certification as required by the State of Tennessee. Work involves performing some difficult and complex functions requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion.

Work shifts rotate and the Wastewater Plant Operator frequently works alone.

Other Qualifications

Ability to learn and become proficient in all IWTP systems

Complete site-specific qualification training and periodic testing

Knowledge of IWTP safety, policies, and procedures, especially in areas such as testing, chemical handling, energy systems and confined spaces

Knowledge of and ability to understand fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, fluid flow and water chemistry

Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with an IWTP

Ability to locate, troubleshoot, and correct problems with mechanical systems ancillary equipment

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Ability to operate and maintain various test equipment

Ability to operate a fork truck

Familiarity with PLC interfaces

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Proficient with email

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 35 pounds in weight. Occasionally, the employee will have to lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.

In addition, the employee will push or pull up to 70 pounds in weight occasionally.

Vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat / cold, wet and / or humid conditions.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and / or machinery.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
