Chevalier Outdoor Living is Hiring a General Technician Near Springville, NY

Our General Technician position is a perfect entry-level position for someone who loves to work outdoors, is open to learning new skills, and is willing to work on multiple teams where support is needed. 

Chevalier Outdoor Living is a company based on Cultivating Creativity, Continued Learning & Growth, and Building Relationships. We’re hiring individuals who may want a change in their life, work outside, or build a new career.

Chevalier offers seasonal work from April to November with the opportunity for winter work. We create, build, and maintain outdoor spaces from garden beds to pools to patios and walkways. We’re currently hiring for our Masonry and our Construction Teams. We work Monday-Friday from 7 AM to 5-6 PM on various projects. 

With multiple projects going on at once, new challenges and learning opportunities are always available. We take pride in our work and want all team members to be able to do so as well. There are also opportunities to work in multiple team settings and gain new skills. We help and support each other regardless of what our specific job titles may be. 

All team members enjoy weekends off, weekly paychecks, time-and-a-half overtime pay for over 40 hours worked in a week, and up to 40 hours of PTO per year.

After an initial introductory period, we offer paid holidays off, company-matched Simple IRA up to 3%, and opportunities for career and educational growth. 

Job-related Duties/Responsibilities• Operate power equipment including, but not limited to pruning saws, chainsaws, sod cutters, hand saws, measuring equipment, hammers, drills, shovels, masonry tools, jackhammers, laser levels, etc.
• Gathering and staging the tools and supplies needed to complete the job at hand
• Handwork in moving soil, mulch, plant material, trenches, ditches, excavation sites, landscape installations, lawn installations, site clean-up, and disposal of debris in appropriate areas

• Mix, pour, and move concrete, mortar, or other cementitious products as instructed
• Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, retaining walls, and other structures
• Assist with daily inspection of equipment and tools used, lubricating, cleaning, sorting, and placing into the proper area for storage daily

• Responsible for daily clean-up of garbage from job-site areas, trucks, and trailers
• Wearing proper personal protective equipment at all times of work; including but not limited to, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and boots, as per company and governmental regulations and laws

• Complete and turn in to the supervising position all paperwork daily about your position

Job-related Qualifications• Valid driver’s license; ability to drive truck/trailer combination favorable
• Proof of high school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Must pass drug testing
• Must have own vehicle

Key Competencies• Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
• Focus on the client, managing tasks mindful of quality and time, with ethics and integrity
• Responsible and dependable in actions and communications

Physical requirements for the position• Ability to lift and carry 100 lbs., walk, stand, crouch, kneel, carry out strenuous physical tasks for prolonged periods, and able to physically work shifts greater than 8 hours.
• Seasonal Work may require shifts of 10-12 hours
