Job Summary:Provide direct care to residents as identified on the resident's plan. Treat each resident with dignity and respect while assisting them to maintain independence. Serve as a responsible, committed member of the team. To be able to perform duties efficiently and courteously.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting to and from activities and meals. Allow and encourage resident to complete as many cares as capable of doing independently with patience and understanding that it will take them longer to complete.

• Evening R.A.'s will need to cook and serve the evening meal.Encourage residents to eat a proper diet and to drink adequate fluids while respecting resident's choices. Remove the dishes from the table, take into kitchen and rinse them off, assist with doing the dishwasher dishes. Day R.A. will also assist with serving and cleanup of the noon meal.
• Sanitize the dining room tables, dust mop the dining room floor after meals and wipe up any spills on the floor.
• Encourage residents for socialize and develop friendships.
• Maintain resident's records as required by policy and procedure.
• Assist residents with medications as required by supervisor.

• Assist with apartment housekeeping including dusting, vacuum, clean bathroom, and mop floors. Change the bed sheets, and doing dishes as needed.
• Assist with laundry as assigned.
• Assist with general housekeeping the common areas. This also includes washing of all windows and screens at least twice a year and main doors every day.
• Ability to assess and follow proper procedures in emergency situations and respond promptly to residents’ requests for assistance.
• Able to do vitals signs as requested by supervisor, to include blood pressure, pulse and temperature.

• Provide orientation to all new staff as defined by policies and procedures.
• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
• Ability to adjust to many types of personalities and situations.
• Maintain courteous attitude, supportive to residents, relatives and visitors. And to remain calm and patient at all times.
• May be asked to assist with taking and picking residents up from scheduled appointments.

Qualifications: 

• Education: High School diploma or general education degree.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions. 
• Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate in English.
• Complete med certification.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to use good judgement in emergency situations and get help when needed.
• Training in safety procedures, including fire safety, universal precautions and emergency plan and tenant rights.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Requires good physical and mental health.
• Constant standing and walking during work or periods is required.

• Turning, stooping, bending, stretching and lifting to assist residents, for cleaning and all other related tasks.
