ShopRite Supermarkets is Hiring a Seafood Manager Near Spotswood, NJ

SRS is seeking a full-time Seafood Manager to join our ShopRite of Spotswood (Spotswood, NJ) team! This role is responsible for cooking, preparing, packaging, wrapping, weighing, price marking, dating, stocking and restocking product according to the company’s processes and food handling standards, while maintaining our strict quality assurance conditions.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct and coach Seafood Department associates, including assignment of daily scheduling and activities.
  • Promote a friendly and favorable store image to our customers, greeting all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
  • Answer phone promptly and in a professional manner to provide customer service.
  • Receive, communicate and fulfill customer requests (i.e. orders) as needed, using company forms and procedures.
  • Dress according to company policy to include uniform and name badge (including but not limited to: hair net, hat, hair restraint and beard guard).
  • Experience required with cooking, prepared foods, catering, and public food demonstrations
  • Handle and communicate all damaged or spoiled products in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow approved procedures for preparing, cooking, steaming, packaging, wrapping, weighing, price marking, dating, stocking and restocking product to ensure department and Quality Assurance standards are met.
  • Utilize approved equipment as required by department. (Including but not limited to: oven, fryer, steamer, grill, cold holding cases, box cutters, ovens, slicers, and knives).
  • Responsible for the upward communication regarding the department status (i.e. damaged/broken equipment, customer service issue, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment. (i.e., keep floor and work area clear of debris and spills).
  • Follow department sanitation and Quality Assurance standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils and equipment. Follow standards for hand washing.
  • Participate in Sampling Program and events seminar as directed.
  • Adhere to the posted attendance schedule and work shifts, as per applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Food Safety Certificate Required
  • Previous kitchen experience, Home-Meal Replacement Employment.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to operate in varying temperatures, including the temperature controlled environment of 41 degrees
  • Frequently lift or move product, supplies, equipment up to 50 pounds to various heights in locations throughout the store facilities.
  • Occasionally lift or move product, supplies, equipment greater than 50 pounds as a team lift.
