The Original Oyster House – Fort/Causeway location is looking for Salad Bar Preps. The ideal candidate would have open availability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, some holidays, and weekend shifts. Some overtime hours may be expected during peak season.

The Salad Bar Prep position is responsible for preparing salads and fruits, prep items, and ensuring the salad bar is well-stocked. Attention to detail, efficiency and commitment to quality will contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guest.

The ideal candidate believes in showing up on time for work, providing other employees with assistance in the kitchen as needed and following all sanitary and health-related protocols. Starting rate of pay is $12 an hour.

Summer pay incentives available for this position:

• $2/hour increase from April 7th – Labor Day
• 5% bonus on all gross earnings from April 7th – Labor Day (restrictions apply)

Job Responsibilities:

• Replenish items in the salad bars, ensuring low stock situations do not occur.
• Toss salads according to specified recipes and instructions and ensure that any toppings and dressings are properly mixed in.
• Ascertain all prepared salads are properly and hygienically placed within the salad bar.
• Clean, sanitize and maintain areas in and around salad bars on a consistent/constant basis.
• Prepares fresh produce by peeling, cutting, and portioning.
• Fill dressing containers and make to-go dressings as well.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Maintain a clean and neat work area.
• Carries pans and trays of food to and from workstation, stove and refrigerator.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
• Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
• Good communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (at least 6 hours or duration of your scheduled shift) and work in a kitchen with extreme heat or cold temperatures.
• Must be able to lift, move, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk, move, balance, bend, twist, lift, stoop, and reach frequently.
• Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
• Must frequently immerse hands in water.
• Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
