Dennis Yarmouth Regional School District is Hiring a Special Education Teacher Near South Yarmouth, MA


COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Incorporate transition planning, including connections to outside agencies, resources, vocational skill instruction, and provide support for families with this stage of educational planning.
  • Willingness to work with students within the post graduate program (18-22 years old) to focus on vocational and job readiness skills.
  • Implement district learning goals and objectives, in alignment with state frameworks, having familiarity in identifying access points for student portfolio development.
  • Provide small group and classroom instruction to students diagnosed from mild to severe cognitive delays and social emotional impairments to ensure understanding and progress in the general curriculum.
  • Provide needed accommodations for student learning and testing when required.
  • Collaborate as a team member within the school building in supporting other staff members in responding to the student's need for modification.
  • Develops, integrates and implements IEP's with clear and appropriate IEP goals and objectives.
  • Designs and implements lesson plans and activities which incorporate student IEP goals and objectives.
  • Attends and participates in TEAM meetings and the evaluation process.
  • Evaluates students for special education.
  • Demonstrates effective classroom management techniques.
  • Responsible for writing IEP's, progress reports and progress monitoring.
  • Responsible for evaluating and report writing.
  • Attending meetings including, but not limited to, annual reviews, 3-year re-evaluations, etc.
  • Responsible for progress monitoring of a case load of liaison students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Special Education Teacher preferably holding a dual license in a content area.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
