SPIRITT Family Services is Hiring a Substance Abuse Clinician Near South El Monte, CA

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing Outpatient Substance Used Disorder Treatment Services as indicated in the Los Angeles County Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) Organized Delivery System out of designated SPIRITT Family Centers. The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor will exemplify agency core values (Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Resiliency, and Recovery) and adhere to SPIRITT’S mission and vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conduct assessments (e.g., American Society Addiction Medicine- ASAM) and provide case management services under the DMC Program.
  • Provide individual and group sessions within the scope of practice.
  • Responsible for maintaining a caseload of 12 – 15 cases and 2 cohorts on a weekly basis.
  • Complete documentation (assessment, progress notes, and treatment plan) within 48 hours.
  • Write concise progress notes, assessments, in the Subjective, Observation, Assessment, Plan (SOAP) format.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision with a Licensed Practitioner of the Health Arts (LPHA) and complete case consultations form on all cases at least monthly.
  • Submit all billable units on a weekly basis and no later than the 5th of the month.
  • Responsible for observing and collecting urine samples of participants and submission to laboratory (paperwork and FedEx).
  • Complete the CAL-OMS for all participants on caseload within 24 hours of enrollment and discharge.
  • Complete all required training within 30 days of starting work including Motivational Interviewing and CBT and other required evidence-based practices.
  • Provide education on MAT treatment and referrals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Los Angeles County treatment provider manual.
  • Complete documentation required to obtain a “C” number from the County to access electronic health records system, SAGE, within seven days of hiring.
  • Maintain good community relationships with external agencies and community groups.
  • Maintain calendar and facilitate scheduling to ensure program/clerical support and office space.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency in timekeeping, external reports/letters, and client files.
  • Adhere to Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings to coordinate Outpatient Substance Used Disorder Treatment Services with other phases of SPIRITT Family Services.

SECONDARY DUTIES
Participate in office duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Not Applicable. May serve as a mentor to students.

ENVIRONMENT
The environment for this position is an office that is mostly clean and comfortable with some noise. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting, in which he or she is free to move about at will. He or she may be required to use his/her own car periodically.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, standing, walking, driving, listening/speaking, writing, and operating a personal computer.

MENTAL DEMANDS
The mental demands in this position are handling multiple tasks, attention to detail, accuracy, exposure to complaints/problems of others, crisis intervention, interruptions, and critical deadlines. Due to the nature of working with this population it is expected that employees will maintain healthy boundaries, manage countertransference, own recovery, and seek support when needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this job. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have:

  • Prior completion of adequate coursework and knowledge of legal and ethical issues regarding substance abuse and mental health concerns.
  • Registered or Certified as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor in accordance with Department of Health Care Services and Substance Abuse Prevention and Control guidelines.
  • BBS Certified
  • Employees working with youth must have two years’ prior experience working with youth.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills such as Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft.
  • Clearance of criminal history background.
  • All staff should be trained in child abuse reporting and neglect issues, and requirements of mandated reporting.
  • Sexual harassment, sexual contact is prohibited between participants, and SPIRITT employees and volunteers.
  • Complete initial and on-going training on viral HIV and Hepatitis.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Current and valid drivers’ license and proof of current auto insurance.
  • Tuberculosis screening test one year prior to commencement of employment and every year thereafter.
  • Evidence of entitlement to work in the United States in accordance with provisions of the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
  • The employee must be able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/herself or others.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64,500.00 - $70,000.00 per year
