Immaculate Conception School is Hiring an Elementary School Teacher (Grades 1-4) Near Somerville, NJ

Education Required: Bachelor's degree

Essential Duties:

  • Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning, where students feel safe, valued, and empowered.
  • Plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons that align with curriculum standards, Catholic teaching, and cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students, including those with diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and interests.
  • Assess student progress regularly through various formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and ensure a productive learning environment.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance instruction and student engagement.
  • Foster a love for reading, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through literacy-rich experiences and hands-on learning activities.
  • Maintain a gradebook within the PowerSchool student information system
  • Complete all classroom paperwork, such as daily notes and attendance reports.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development
  • Prepare students for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
  • Serve as a role model, using a growth mindset to develop young minds and inspire a love of learning.
  • Exhibit knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment.
  • Communicate effectively, efficiently, and responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Follow professional ethics in all work-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field
  • Valid teaching certification/license for elementary education
  • Proven experience working with elementary-aged students in a classroom setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, pedagogy, and curriculum design.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Adaptability, patience, and a passion for working with children.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools and digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.

All applicants need to complete Virtus training and will need to have NJ Department of Education fingerprinting before entering the classroom.

Should be a role-model of the Catholic faith's teachings including personal speech and behavior, and Mass attendance.

Pay commensurate with experience.
