Full-Time Firefighter

City of Somersworth Fire Department

The City of Somersworth – the Hilltop City – is seeking highly responsible and motivated candidates for the position of Firefighter to fill a vacancy and establish a list of potential candidates for future positions. Somersworth is a community of 12,000 people and 10 square miles with a single, centrally located new, state-of-the art Fire Station with modern apparatus and equipment. Residency within 25-miles radius of the Fire Department within first year required. The City of Somersworth Fire Department is a forward-looking organization with an emphasis on safety, operational effectiveness, and training.

Minimum Applicant Qualifications

· Firefighter II (if not through the NHFA a letter of reciprocity from the NHFA is required).

· Current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification required prior to appointment or lateral transfer of full-time career personnel pursuant to State of NH Admin Rule 703.01.

Note: Applicants with pending CPAT certifications will be considered.

· 18 years of age.

· High School diploma or GED.

· Valid Driver’s License.

· EMT Preferred.

Starting Salary: $23.62 ($51,586.08)

Plus 13 paid Holidays, $500 annual incentive for EMT license, Excellent Insurance benefits and NH Retirement System
