DescriptionSUMMARYThe Senior Buyer is responsible for the Tactical Procurement and Strategic Sourcing activities for their assigned customers and suppliers. Responsible for the tactical procurement of all purchased materials and services as required to meet production needs, taking into account total cost of ownership, quality, and continuity of supply. The Strategic Sourcing aspects of this position include driving cost savings, developing and implementing sourcing strategies, and collaborating with cross functional teams to identify and implement cost savings opportunities. Facilitate activities focusing on the development of a Preferred Supplier List, that includes a reduction in the total number of suppliers. Manage strategic interactions with key suppliers that include supplier relationship development, escalation point for critical shortages, and implementation of supplier improvements. Success will be heavily based on the ability to minimize inventory by ensuring material is procured just prior to usage.
This role is vital to the success of Valtronic Technologies (USA), Inc.’s ability to meet/exceed internal customer goals/objectives, driving its capabilities forward by effectively managing the procurement process to exceed customer expectations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Research and identify sources of supply for a wide variety of technical products including, Electronic Components, Connectivity, Metal and Plastic Fabrications, Complex Medical Customs Sub-Assemblies.
- Obtains and analyzes supplier quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
- Utilizes Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system reports to analyze and determine what parts are needed and when they need to be delivered.
- Support Sales and Product Managers by providing costed (Quoting) bills of material for potential new business.
- Provide world class pricing and TCO solutions when preparing cost effective bid proposals on all Bills of Material for all Customer quotations.
- Manage inventory turns, purchase price variance and supply chain solutions.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategy for all materials.
- Responsible for Global Supplier Management. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery, lead time) of all suppliers. Conduct regular strategic business reviews with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of the supply base.
- Measure and track key supplier performance, ensuring compliance with key performance indicators within the supply chain. These KPI’s may include savings, quality, delivery, lead time, market trends, etc.
- Identify and implement Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction opportunities. Champion improvements by pursuing TCO reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, demand management, improving supply chain flexibility, etc.).
QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree Business, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related area
- Minimum of 7 years of Tactical Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing work experience at a contract or original equipment electronic manufacturer. Medical Device Manufacturer highly Preferred.
- Exceptional Negotiations Tactics and Skills.
- Quick comprehension of changing environments and good personal interactive communication skills
- Effective decision making and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of Electronic Component Global Market Place
- Working knowledge and associated certification of Lean/Six Sigma is preferred
- The ideal candidate is a team player, detail oriented, with strong MRP/SAP systems and MS Office applications.
- Must work independently and be able to manage tight timelines and changing priorities.
- Teamwork is imperative. Everyone works together as a team. Experience with various commodities, including but not limited to: Electronic Components, Connectivity, Metal and Plastic Fabrications, Complex Medical Customs Sub-Assemblies.
- Certified Purchasing Manager or similar certification.
