JOB SUMMARY:
This non-exempt position will provide coordination of services to infants and families. It will also provide assessment, intervention techniques and strategies to assist in fostering the growth and development of children with special needs from birth to three years of age in a home based service program. This position will adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual and the State and Federal Rules and Regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct developmental screenings and evaluations.
Provide a family focused approach in service delivery.
Must be able to drive frequently to meet families in a natural home environment.
Develop Individual Family Service Plans with families.
Conduct vision and hearing screenings.
Provide home based programming.
Serve as the Family Service Coordinator for assigned families.
Consult with agency and resource providers.
Participate in ongoing staff development and education.
Maintain confidentiality as per policies.
Maintain compliant and organized files for assigned caseload.
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED JOB DUTIES:
Other duties as assigned for the family focused program.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in special education, elementary education, early childhood education, social work, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy or another professional discipline related to working with children under the age of three who are suspected or identified as experiencing a disability; and at least one year of experience working in the field of early childhood or preschool (Chapter 023 Infant Learning Programs 7 AAC 23.090). Level 10 or 11 on the SEED Registry. If only a Bachelor’s degree then appropriate certification or licensure is required. Knowledge of unique and special needs of community, parent/child relationships and creative learning programs for children who are developmentally delayed. Ability to teach and supervise; work with minimal supervision; foster organizational goals; and to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently. A current Alaskan Drivers License and proof of current automotive insurance is required to conduct company business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain practices, means, methods, operation, or process, reasonably necessary or appropriate to provide a safe and healthful working environment. Physically able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.
LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position is subject to a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. Job related testing may be required. Must take TB test. Must have CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment (in-house training course available on site).
