Salary Range: $16.00 Hourly
DescriptionThe Devonshire Preschool Program is seeking to hire a substitute preschool teacher assistant.The Preschool Teacher Assistant Sub shall assist the Preschool Teacher with daily classroom tasks and routines. Under the direction of the Preschool Teacher and the Preschool Director, participates in planning and implementing appropriate activities promoting the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of children enrolled in the preschool program aged 3 to 5 years of age. Supervises children closely to ensure their health and safety. Establishes a nurturing relationship with the children and their families. Serves as an appropriate role model to the students. Assists in maintaining necessary records and reports pertaining to those children enrolled in the preschool program as required by DCFS. Assists the Preschool Teacher in maintaining an organized and neat classroom. Sanitizes tables, toys and equipment. May be required to supervise the preschool children that are enrolled in the full-day program at lunch time. As requested, attends meetings and training sessions and other programs and events that take place outside of the normally scheduled hours.
Hours: School hours vary but at longest are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30PM ; plus set up/cleanup times.
QualificationsMust be a mature, energetic, responsible adult at least 18 years of age with strong organizational, presentation, communication and leadership skills. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Must have experience working with preschool aged children. Some college credit in Early Childhood Education or Child Development a plus, but not required. Must be able to meet DCFS licensing standards for childcare workers which includes a current medical examination, TB test and criminal background check.
