Panagora seeks a dynamic director ofcorporate communications to direct the vision and oversee the implementation ofour external and internal communications strategy, including managing a smallteam, and working closely with our CEO and executive team. The ideal candidatewill have 10-15 years of relevant experience in communications, both internaland external, with progressive leadership responsibility. Successful candidateswill have experience providing strategic leadership to 1) realize organizationalgoals through engaging and creative storytelling, messaging, and branding and2) lead internal communications to foster transparency, support knowledgemanagement, and facilitate a robust company culture. The director will havedemonstrated experience working for other USAID and other donor-fundedimplementing partners working in international development and will be familiarwith industry trends, issues, and associations.

Responsibilities
  • Implementand further develop multi-pronged external and internal communications strategythat is aligned with Panagora’s corporate goals, working across all teams andin close coordination with the executive team
  • Workclosely with the CEO to define strategic priorities and internal and externalcorporate messaging
  • Manageexternal communications, including continuous improvements to the Panagorawebsite, branding and messaging updates, marketing materials, and social mediamanagement
  • Maintainbrand and quality control across company, including overseeing editorialsupport for projects and proposals, and ensuring training across the company tobuild capacity in writing, messaging, editing, formatting, and document production
  • Sharethe story of our ESOP and employee ownership to external audiences and helpfoster a strong employee ownership culture internally through communicationsproducts and storytelling, working in coordination with other teams andconsultants
  • Supportand collaborate with the KM specialist to help strengthen corporate knowledgemanagement initiatives to streamline and clarify information across the company
  • Direct and oversee the creation, production,and dissemination of branded collateral
  • Support projects as needed with directcommunications support
  • Manage communications team, set priorities based onlong-term strategy and short-term needs, balance workloads, establish bestpractices, improve team processes and systems, provide mentorship and guidance,and foster positive work environment and effective teamwork
  • Manageexternal consultants and vendors for website upgrades, graphic design content,videos, and other creative content as needed
  • Applyleadership and management principles in developing an inclusive, respectfulwork environment consistent with Panagora’s values related to employeeownership and diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Work with president and CEO and executiveteam to establish and implement Panagora’s external engagement strategy
  • Support the CEO and executive team in the managementof relationships with key professional associations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’sdegree in a relevant field
  • Minimumof 10 years of relevant experience in communications, of which at least 5 ofthem involved leading a team of employees and consultants
  • Demonstratedexperience successfully managing communications portfolios for organizations,including developing comprehensive external and internal campaigns, trackingand analyzing metrics and other indicators, writing and developing creativecontent, writing comms strategies, creating branded collateral, and maintaininga department budget
  • Excellentverbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills; must have strongskills in writing for the web and social media
  • Efficientand effective writing for different audiences both internally and externally.
  • Strongunderstanding of managing an editorial process within a team and knowledge ofhow to produce complicated documents (writing, editing, formatting steps andtimelines).
  • Basicgraphic design skills, including working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloudsuite of software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and familiarity with Canva;able to direct graphic design work and manage external graphic designers. Advancedbackground in graphic design a plus
  • Proficientuse of WordPress and Hootsuite or other similar tools
  • Experiencewith USAID policies and programs required, with knowledge of global health, monitoring,evaluation, and learning a plus
  • Experienceworking for USAID implementing partner preferred
  • Smallbusiness experience a plus

  • Demonstratedexperience managing and working with multi-cultural teams with diverse skill sets
  • Willingnessto travel internationally

Panagora Group is currently working a hybrid workschedule, and employees are encouraged to come into the office at least once aweek to foster engagement, collaboration, belonging and professionaldevelopment. Departments/teams will hold in-person meetings that involve a highdegree of collaboration, where ideas are generated quickly and often feed offeach other, e.g., brainstorming, storyboarding, proposal development, strategicplanning, and performance discussions. Staff who reside in the DC/MD/VA areaare strongly encouraged to work from the office on those days.
