Mead Lumber is Hiring an Outside Sales Representative Near Sheridan, WY

At Sheridan Home Center, a Mead Lumber Company, one of our six Core Values is “Unmatched Customer Service." As an Outside Sales Rep, you will be on the front lines of making that happen. 

Mead Lumber, founded in 1910, is the leading provider of building materials to professional contractors and remodelers. We have 53 operating locations across 9 Midwestern states. As 100% employee-owned, we continue to grow and are in search of driven individuals who desire an opportunity to grow their career.

Primary responsibility is to promote and sell construction materials and services to existing and prospective contractor customers. We are looking for a dependable candidate with good communication skills and a drive to excel.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Learn company products, procedures, culture and customer service philosophy.
  • Learn proper procedures for orders, special orders, purchase orders, credit memo’s and receiving.
  • Develops relationships with existing and potential customers through personal and phone contact, ensuring completion of plan take-offs, bids and quotes, answering questions and solving problems.
  • Prepares and presents accurate sales proposals and quotes to prospective or current customers.
  • Maximizes the number of sales for existing market areas.
  • Provide customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times. 
  • Research and provide accurate information to customers regarding proper materials and prices as well as technical information regarding application and specifications.
  • Performs job-site visits to ensure delivery and timely completion.
  • Ensures all projects generate appropriate profit margins to justify sale.
  • Coordinates all deliveries and credit pick-ups with yard dispatcher.
  • Attends activities and functions as a representative of company.
  • Develops process to track progress of customer’s projects and monitors progress.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience as a sales representative in the lumber industry a plus.
  • Lumber take-off experience a plus.
  • Some knowledge of construction industry and local building codes preferred.
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales.
  • Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs.
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback.
  • Current driver’s license, current automobile insurance and good driving record

Job Type: Full-time
