    Sylvester Middle School is seeking a PE and Dance Class Teacher to join our team of educators for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year!
    SUMMARY: The position of physical education teacher helps students learn skills and develop attitudes and appreciations which will lead them toward the fulfillment of the district’s goals of education. This position plans physical education programs to promote development of student’s physical attributes and social skills. The PE Instructor teaches individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and of physical capabilities of students. The employee organizes, leads, instructs, and referees indoor and outdoor games, such as volleyball, baseball, and basketball. Instructs individuals or groups in beginning or advanced calisthenics, gymnastics, or corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty of exercises, corrections needed, and prescribed movements, applying knowledge of sports, physiology, and corrective techniques. Teaches and demonstrates use of gymnastic and training apparatus, such as trampolines and weights; may teach students with disabilities.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Current Washington State Teacher’s certificate with appropriate subject area endorsement(s).
    • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Criminal background clearance and all certificates, licenses, endorsements, permits, and vaccines (absent exemption) as required for this position by state and local authorities.
