Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate NYS licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing quality care to our animal patients. This position requires knowledge and experience in companion animal care, as well as proficiency in veterinary terminology and laboratory procedures. Applicants should be organized and experienced with anesthetic monitoring, dental procedures, post-op care, and client education. Applicants should be able to work well within a team, have exceptional technical skills, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Our hospital offers digital radiography, complete dental equipment and IDEXX in-house lab equipment. Our doctors foster a strong team-based atmosphere tha makes working at our hospital both encouraging and gratifying.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform animal catheterization, blood draws, and laboratory tests
- Provide animal restraint during procedures and examinations
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgeries or treatments
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and medication administration
- Anesthetic monitoring
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or similar role is required
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and laboratory procedures
- Strong animal handling skills and the ability to safely restrain animals during procedures
- Familiarity with common veterinary equipment and instruments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate pet owners on proper care
