Regional West Health Services is an independent, integrated health care delivery system based in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. We are actively looking for caring individuals to join the team as a Prior Authorization Specialist.

To serve this mission, you will obtain prior authorizations for diagnostic imaging, cardiac imaging, prescription medications including hospital administered IV infusions, Veterans Administration authorizations, some durable medical equipment, and referral authorizations for some specialist appointments. This position will secure the prior authorization and notify the rendering party in the timeliest manner possible, so our patient receives the services needed with the least delay. 

As a RWHS Prior Authorization Specialist, you will:

• Receive the order and initiate the authorization and provide necessary information to obtain the authorization in a timely manner.
• Contact the insurance company either by phone, insurance portal or fax to provide information to obtain an authorization in an expedient time, for the procedure to be completed in a timely manner.
• Document the authorization and all communications regarding the request in the provided electronic health record system of the status with the authorization and conduct authorization in a professional manner. 

You may be a good fit if you have:

• Associated Degree preferred, required High School Degree or GED.
• Medical Terminology is a requirement, and a basic understanding of ICD-9/CPT coding and medical necessity requirements is preferred.
• Minimum of two years secretarial/business experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge of insurance process and medical terminology preferred.
