Fund Development Director Position – job description and responsibilities
Healthy Savannah engages all sectors of the community around providing access to physical activity, nutritious food, and breastfeeding to our community with a focus on low-wealth African American and Hispanic residents of Chatham County. This position is a contract position and the scope of the contract will be to purchase services to seek out and acquire financial and other resources (grant funding and donations) to carry out the Healthy Savannah mission beginning July 1, 2024. We currently work with over 200 partners across the community to improve health equity in Chatham County. Healthy Savannah asks all stakeholders for help and advice; gains insight and expertise, which creates forward momentum to reducing barriers and deepens coalition relationships.
The Fund Development Director is charged with primary responsibility for managing and implementing the organization's first professional development plan, generated as part of a strategic plan process. Position is responsible for planning, execution, control and evaluation of fundraising, public relations and education and outreach for the organization. The Development Director works closely with the ED, the Board and Fundraising volunteers to enhance and support the overall mission of the organization, and to assure that ample unrestricted and programs funds are generated.
Deliverables – Year One:
1. Provide a one-year fundraising calendar detailing estimated income and priority by calendar quarter for a total of $100K - 200K
2. Attend all Healthy Savannah board meetings, held the 3rd Wednesday of every other month beginning July 2025
3. Based on resource development plan, provide a summary of activities and results report covering the two months prior. Send to Executive Director one week prior to board meeting.
4. Based on resource development plan, provide a summary report of activities and results by the 10th of each month to HS Executive Director.
5. Work directly with Resource Development Committee; plan and attend meetings as scheduled.
6. Work and meet regularly with Healthy Savannah board and staff, including working in the HS office a minimum of two days per week.
7. Begin planning for the Healthy Savannah Annual Meeting to be held in the spring of 2025.
Responsibilities:

· Assist with community level initiatives in support of policy, system, and environmental change to promote active lifestyles, healthy food access, and community-clinical linkages
· Work collaboratively with all stakeholders and decision makers in developing and achieving goals and objectives
· Assist in setting priorities to meet culturally competent communication needs for the diverse population in Savannah, Georgia
· Represent Healthy Savannah in community events and in coalition meetings
· Conduct research using Healthy Savannah Community Survey instruments
· Be scheduled night and weekend work –but will be very limited
Qualifications
· Five years' experience in nonprofit fundraising or relevant sales and marketing.
· A strong commitment to the mission and goals of the ACLU of Georgia.
· Proven track record of soliciting and closing gifts in the $1,000 - $50,000 range.
· Demonstrated success in achieving revenue goals.
· Experience establishing and building strong, long-term partnerships with donors. A proven record of securing visits with prospective donors, and soliciting, closing, and stewarding gifts of five-figures or more. The most competitive candidate also will have proven experience converting new donors/prospects to major donors.
· Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written persuasive communication and presentation skills.
· Ability to connect with people from different backgrounds and build relationships across differences.
· Exceptional attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
· Computer proficiency, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Able to occasionally work evenings, weekends and to travel statewide to visit donors when feasible.
· Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
· Sound working knowledge of customer service skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Public speaking skills
· Strong writing skills
· Ability to foster positive staff, peer, and program participant relationships
· Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, and ability to learn other platforms as needed
· Willingness to learn basics to work in Mail Chimp, WordPress, Facebook, and other social media platforms
· Ability to create and submit a planned weekly schedule
· Ability to take initiative and work independently and with little supervision

· Readily access virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
· If needed, transportation access to office and meetings around Savannah/Chatham County
· Wi-Fi enabled electronic device (laptop or tablet)
COMMUNICATIONS &: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
· Work with staff, Board, and constituents to capture and disseminate human interest stories to be used for generating media coverage
· Participate in a minimum of one community engagement event per month
MANAGEMENT:
· In association with the Communication Manager, contract with a temporary event planning consultant to help plan and implement the 2025 Annual event.
· Attend leadership development sessions with executive director
MISCELLANEOUS:
· Attend all Healthy Savannah board meetings, providing updates or giving presentations, as required.
· Attend CDC Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health meetings as required
· Attend coalition member meetings as needed /required (CGIC, SCFPC, etc.)
