Job DescriptionSarasota County Schools is now hiring certified English teachers to work at Booker High School in Sarasota , FL! Booker High School creates an environment with unique programs that offer expansive opportunities to a diverse population!
The following positions are available:
  • English 6-12, teaching English 2 and AICE EGP 11th grade
  • Intensive Reading (11/12th grades) and one section of Developmental Language for ESOL (Reading certified)
  • ESE English 6-12, as a push-in co teacher with English 1 and 2 teachers
  • ESE English 6-12, teaching AICE EGP and one section of Unique Skills
Starting Salary: $55,000 with a Bachelor’s degree
Educational Supplements upon conferral of advanced degree or advanced course credit:
  • Bachelor’s 30 - $2,500
  • Master’s - $5,000
  • Master’s 45/Specialist - $7,500
  • Doctorate - $10,000

Job Goal:To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals, and objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution
  • Certification from the State of Florida in appropriate area
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Establish short and long-range goals based on student needs and District and state curriculum requirements
  • Plan and prepare lessons and strategies which support the School Improvement Plan and District mission
  • Plan and prepare instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional materials to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and plans for improvement
  • Maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment
  • Manage time, materials, and equipment effectively
  • Establish and maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures
  • Use effective student behavior management techniques
  • Assist in enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board policies
