Job Details

Description

Working closely with Special Assets Department Officers, the individual in this role will perform day-to-day servicing activities for the Bank's Special Assets Department with a primary focus on administrative and loan collection activities.

Administrative :

  • Produce and maintain department reports, including past due, work in progress, Notice of Default, REO and other various weekly and monthly accountings.
  • Serve as a contact point for Special Assets Department customers for basic customer service inquiries and / or troubleshooting issues for other EB product areas, including Retail, Operations, Cash Management, and Trust.
  • Process and follow up on loan risk grade changes, non-accrual, return to accrual and charge off requests with the Loan Service Center.
  • Process all Special Assets customer payments and work with the Loan Servicing Center to resolve disputes with late fees, credit reporting, force placed insurance, DMV paperwork, missing files and other customer issues.
  • Manage all files to / from the Loan Service Center, warehouse and other areas of the Bank.
  • Order, track and update Uniform Commercial Code searches and credit reports through the Loan Service Center.
  • Monitor past due property tax report on loans in Special Assets Department, coordinate updates to Loan Service Center and management.
  • Administer on behalf of the Special Assets Department all internal / external audit reviews, including self-reviews of files and compliance.
  • Assist with large copy or scanning projects, file maintenance, and other projects as needed.
  • Track and gather documentation for incoming requests for assistance.
  • Handle incoming calls from branches and Customer Care Center to triage basic customer questions and concerns.
  • Take deferment request calls and process requests as applicable.
  • Monitor deceased borrower status, send condolence letters and follow prescribed timeline to track and process potential probate claims.
  • Monitor bankruptcy activity through PACER and provide regular updates to Special Assets Department Officers.
  • Request and track property inspections, appraisals, engineering studies and / or construction bids as necessary in the management of Special Assets loans and disposal of REO property.
  • Coordinate the necessary actions to manage and sell properties working with real estate brokers, potential purchasers, title and escrow companies, receivers, property management firms and other REO property related vendors.
  • Prepare documentation packages for collection, legal and foreclosure referrals.
  • Run property profile, Lexis Nexis reports and perform other skip tracing activities on defaulted borrowers.
  • Prepare and scan documentation packages for collection, legal, bankruptcy, foreclosure referrals, REO and Asset Disposition.
  • Track, record and submit invoices for payment.
  • Perform other general administrative duties.

Collections :

  • Initiate payment reminder calls on all loan types in collection queues 20 days or more past due and document collection system with detailed notes.
  • Perform daily review of past due loans and deduct payments from authorized accounts.
  • Prepare and send payment demand letters on past due loans.
  • Assign accounts over 60 days past due for repossession.
  • Set up repossession assignments in system; follow through with customer on reinstatement procedures; work out and mail repossession demand letters to customers.
  • Update returned mail on current collection system with new given addresses.
  • Assemble condition reports, proofs of insurance claims and follow up for payoffs.
  • Interact with collection agencies regarding accounts assigned to them.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Experience with banking, loan documentation, servicing and accounting, or collections experience not required, but is a plus.
  • Knowledge of loan administration, loan accounting methods / servicing and practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of Bank’s loan subsystem preferred.
  • General knowledge of loan servicing operations and functions, including general understanding of loan documentation preferred.
  • Computer software skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Proven ability to learn and retain new information.
  • Ability to speak professionally to customers in the process of resolving account delinquencies or servicing matters requiring resolution.

Education and Experience :

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or equivalent; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum of five years in administrative support or other job experience relevant to the role description.

Compensation :

The hiring range for this position is 24.75 to $35.89 per hour. Actual salary offered will fall within this range commensurate with the candidate's applicable experience, education, and skills.
